Accurate summary of the current housing arrangements I think.
I think the two mother/calf pairs and the bull(three combinations) each use one of the two large paddocks in the daytime, so one must be confined to a yard some of the time(the bull behind the new house, the mother/calf in the old yards)
There are three equal-sized stalls in the new house. 'Stall' is a bit of an understatement as they are very roomy areas. I don't think there is an additional offshow area but not sure.
I believe Asha may be leaving at some stage- to Chester?
I've never thought of those stalls as "roomy", I always considered them to be rather small for a new house, especially in terms of the land area. It seems that the single male usually has access to all three, and every time I've seen him he paces from one end of the house to the other.
Attached is a photo of the left-hand stall, but as Pertinax says, all three are pretty much identical.
I think there's something decidedly 'fishy' about the way this 'new' house is still so underused. Just one rhino (now its the male)kept in it a lot of the time. I can only think (only presuming, mind you) the 2 mothers and calves are kept in the old house because of worries about the watermoats- I can't think of any other reason, but if that's correct, didn't they take that into account when they built it? I still find this all rather perplexing.
