Doesn't work if you insist on calling them 'elk' though! :D

Another stunning shot! I do enjoy the Wild Wild Whipsnade area.

It gives everyone a very good reason for calling them 'elk' ;), which I prefer anyway.
I was very lucky with the shot, he gave me a couple of minutes to set up and then wandered into the middle of the enclosure to feed as soon as I was ready.

How many times do we have to go through this? It's a MOOSE! And I'm from a region where we've actually got them so I decide :p

Got to give Alan full marks for composition of this shot- the strands of foliage give a great feel, though the Elk(moose)'s slightly bemused expression is entirely his own.

This must be the first Elk/Moose//Moose/Elk born at Whipsnade for over fifty years I would guess (presuming they bred when they kept them before, in what is now the Reindeer paddock.)

Lovely photo and it is, of course, excellent news that a moose has been born at Whipsnade again after many years.

Sorry to contradict you, Pertinax, but the last moose birth was not as long ago as fifty years; there were definitely moose births at Whipsnade in the 1970s.

No problem.. ;) I see Chalklion has now posted a photo of a Whipsnade Moose/Elk dated 1980's. I hadn't realised they had stayed so long, but seem to remember they were still there some while after the Wapiti in the adjacent paddock were phased out.
