Javan Rhino meets Gaur

Well, I can say that stroking Gaur is an experience. As a zoochatter that doesn\'t like ignorant, annoying people doing this kind of thing, I do feel maybe I should have left it, but I REALLY couldn\'t resist, and the Gaur didn\'t seem to mind.

What I will say though, is if you try this have some hand sanitizer - luckily we did, because they leave a sort of oily, dirty residue.

You should try stroking a baby takin. If you want your hand to smell of musk for the next week.

Despite the inconveniance of the musk, stroking a takin sounds amazing!

It's not all it's cracked up to be the smell is bloody terrible!!

It's the same with many hoofstock species, including okapi; they're coats feel really velvety, exactly how they look, but your hand looks like it's been clearing out an exhaust pipe when you look at it!

And I think if the animal isn't bothered about it I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with touching them; most times they do it for pleasure anyway! There was a tapir who was leaning against the fence at Cotswold a few years ago having a fuss from a crowd of people, looked as if it was in absolute bliss.

I agree with this too; I had a haircut like your old one up until last year, I don't know why I didn't think of getting rid of it earlier!

the tapirs at cotswold wildlife park seem to crave the attention of the crowds, and let me tell you, having to pleasure of stroking + feeding one is some experiance
