Yes, personally, I like the Indian rhinoceros exhibit at Whipsnade. However there has been much discussion on other threads about the design of the indoor pool in the new Indian rhino house; although the male ‘Hugo’ uses it apparently none of the females do.
Unfortunately, the ZSL no longer keeps black rhinos at either London Zoo or Whipsnade.
For many years Whipsnade was the only zoo in the UK to hold Indian rhino and so was the first to breed them. However their accomodation, particularly indoors, has always been very poor/substandard, until recently with the opening of a new building(Rhinos of Nepal) which connects with the older housing and spacious paddocks. For the first time there are indoor bathing pools(look in this Gallery for pictures) though the design means the adult females for some reason won't enter/use them and they and their small calves still seem to be kept in the old accomodation, while the new House is semi-empty a lot of the time. There is something not right here!
