Looks too scaly about the head & too domed a shell to be any aquatic species. Suggest Testudo sp? Can any tortoise expert help?

Was it it the outside enclosure? My first thought was a land tortoise but I know as much about turtles as JR, so I can't say.

Whipsnade keep Horsefield's, Hermann's and Egyptian.

It is dark enough to be a Red-necked Pond Turtle, just looks peculiar out of water and dry. The feet also look like terrestrial species! It is certainly not Horsefield's, Hermann's or Egyptian.

Out of the species on Whipsnade's stocklist, yellow-footed tortoise fits closest, however I would have expected to at least faintly see the yellow centers to the scutes on the carapace. Puzzling.

Im pretty sure thats an relatively old adult Greek spur thigh Tortoise (Testudo graeca). i have a 75 year old of the same species and its almost identical.

the front margin of the shell doesn't look like that of any Greek tortoise I've seen
