Several people on here have managed to see and photo the Black Fallow in recent months. Despite looking, I haven't seen them on my last few visits. They obviously have a pretty big area to roam in that valley- a sort of mini-deerpark?

If you walk down the pathway with the hippos on your left and the kudus and impalas on your right then the black fallow deer herd is in the enormous paddock at the end of the road.
They have been there for years (the original stock came from Epping Forest) but they don’t show themselves very often.
According to the most recent ZSL Animal Inventory, Whipsnade had seventy-one of the dark form of fallow deer as at 1st January 2014; I must have seen most of these on Saturday.
