Where abouts in the park are these? I can't see them on map.

They're not on the current map, but they're exactly where they've been for most of Whipsnade's history, on Bison Hill - a large paddock on the downs, a short walk beyond the penguin pool. Well worth a look, and this is where you'll see the prairie marmots, as well.
 
Ahhh, that explains why I didn't see them on my visit. I didn't know to keep going past the penguins.
 
Once again another superb, atmospheric shot involving the American bison!

It's a travesty that the zoo seems to want to simply forget about them.
 
Thanks for the kind comments. And just to note, there is only the male left there now, afaik. I don't know what became of the female, but only 1.0 were listed in the 2015 Inventory in January 2015.
 
Does anyone know the maximum number of American bison that Whipsnade have held? I've only seen a total of 3, that was when I was a child.
