Are there still two left now?

According to the most recent ZSL Animal Inventory there was only one American bison, a male, as at 1st January 2015. That species list is, of course, almost a year out of date now but I have only ever seen one individual on my visits this year.

I don't know that one, but l love the Romney Marsh which has so many associations - birdwatching at Dungeness (where sea meets gravel meets nuclear power),

I usually try and have a quick trip out to Dungeness if I go to Port Lympne. Fascinating place. Stone Curlew used to breed there until circa the 1960's and of course its a migration watchpoint too.

The view from the lookout lodge is equally impressive but looking more along the beach/coast the other(easterly) way. Its so good I think it actually detracts from the 'African experience' a bit!

I hope they don't let them die out again.

Why don't the zoo promote this area, not even a sign???

Nope-nothing whatsoever!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this neglect is a travesty. It seems that the zoo wants this area quietly forgotten about. More fool them-the recent redevelopment of the penguin pools has made this area even more prominent!
