If someone told me this was a vacant lot in an economically distressed city I'd believe it.

I must agree it looks pretty bad right now, but this is Calgary. Today was the first day of spring and snowed. Nothing starts growing here until mid May if your lucky.

This enclosure does indeed look terrible, with garishly painted buildings surrounding what appears to be a dirt pit. Not exactly an African landscape!;)

I assure you that grass does grow, also this is the "wallow" area. I agree the wall is rather garish. I feel that in the summer this enclosure, while on the small side, is effective and provides plenty of enrichment opportunities for the hogs. I have not seen the RRHs out but when warthogs lived in this enclosure, they always seemed to enjoy wallowing in the mud as most pigs do.

It does look bad now, but in the summer (I was there last summer) it looks very green.

Yeah, this enclosure is not as bad as it looks. You can't blame the zoo that spring hasn't sprung yet...

To be honest, most outdoor enclosures look like crap during the winter, but in the summer they turn out fairly nice.
