The wings are clipped on the bird, which is common practice for vultures in many North American zoos. On a side note, the pool in the background is home to Nile Hippos and there is also a giraffe indoor exhibit that can be seen as well.
There are no longer any vultures at the zoo and this exhibit now holds African Crested Porcupines. Just to the left-hand side (and not in the photo) is an enclosure that houses at least 22 meerkats and that in itself is quite a sight!
