The indoor quarters are too small, as the inside pool can be seen by zoo visitors and I think that if both hippos were to be in the water at the same time then there would not be much space left over. Also, I'm not sure how many days the hippos are kept indoors during the winter. There isn't much snow where the zoo is, but on average at least a week per year of the white stuff. There are many rainy, chilly days as well.
