bichir signage

it always really annoys me when fish-keepers call bichirs lungfish, and it annoys me even more when a public aquarium does it, especially when it results in a sign as messed up as this one. Its bad enough that the centre-piece for the NZ Dinosaur Discovery display is an articulated moa skeleton (!), but then to have a bichir tank in there as well with this sign on it is just too much.

(Also I was about to get all excited because I had never seen an African lungfish before; then I saw that the photo on the sign was actually a bichir)

Point taken.

Sham(e)ful piece of public awareness and education.
And that for a public aquarium cum museum facility.
Sad, bad … and dangerous to know ...
