What is going on with the cane toad invasion of Australia these days? Has anybody found anyway of slowing or stopping them?

Has anybody found anyway of slowing or stopping them?

Nope.

There was talk of catching up endangered species before the toads moved right across the NT, but it turns out many of Australia's natives may be adapting.

The scary thing is there's a small population in Sydney that seems to be able to survive our cold winters, although they certainly won't be able to breed.

It doesn't look especially healthy the eyes look semi closed and slightly sunken, also the poison glands look as if they have been activated unless it is just on the image.

They often look like that.

This toad was on the drive way of the Tropex Motel in Ingham (the best motel in town I was told, very nice!) I guess I could have squished it etc, but I'm not too keen on that sort of thing and it had disappeared by the next morning when we drove out. I would drive over a cane toad but not stamp on one with my foot..... I think.... I was actually pleased to see one, I don't like them being there, but it was part of the 'far north' experience I guess.
