@Quartz92: thanks for posting the "Eurasia" maps of the Toronto Zoo, and many of the large outdoor enclosures there are really quite impressive. My main complaint with the zoo is that the many all-indoor exhibits within the pavilions are badly outdated, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with many of the enormous hoofstock paddocks.
@ SnowLeopard, no problem for posting the maps! I like the layout very much and really think it will be a significant improvement for the zoo! My deepest interest is the Orientation Centre, however if the zoo cuts back this area will be the first to be on the chopping block!
@ SnowLeopard and Meaghan, yes the African Pavilion is under construction and with the North half already completed from 2002. The Australasian Pavilion was renovated and opened in 2006. Malayan Woods is the newest pavilion and has recently received a small reno with the addition of an insect room. America's will receive a reno from the North Site Redevelopment. Which only leaves Indo that will need to be done, which already is planned to receive construction in the coming years. Thats just the indoors part! I really believe that the zoo will construct new homes for all its inhabitants, after all of these exhibits will be constructed, all of which are planned to be state of the art will truly make the Toronto Zoo one of the best zoos in the world!
Its not it is to seperate regions. The Canadian animals will be moved from their current home (Canadian Domain) to the current Eurasia site, the Eurasian animals will be either phased out or new exhibits built for them!
