Hippos on a mission

This is about 10 minutes after the keeper talk for the Hippos. Clearly the couple of carrots and avacado pieces were not enough to quench their big hippo hunger as they decided to go to TOWN on the tree that's in the middle of their exibit. When asked if they have shown this behaviour before, the keeper she had not seem them doing anything like this before and showed concern for them ripping the tree down. Eventaully they had their fiill and continued to forage on the ground, leaving the rest of the tree as a snack for another day.

Browsing hippos, a new one on me, will this behaviour be found in the new mammal handbook? ;)
 
Wow this is very unique behavior and about as interesting as recently finding out that wild Nile Hippos have been recently seen swimming in the ocean off the coast of Gabon.
