I liked it overall although a I think I was expecting more species.
The polar bear enclosure looks brilliant in parts and they clearly have a lot of space but was expecting it to be a bit more immersive. I hate the fake rock too. I've always had a problem with this as it rarely looks convincing and the example here is quite poor - looking like lumps of 'grey pasticine'. I see they have tried to mimic the growth of algae by adding spots of green and white paint but still looks very artificial. Maybe it will mature with time (actually the 'rock' in the foreground of this picture is much better quality than the more rounded 'walls' of the bear enclosure in background). Was also surprised to see that parts of the enclsoure are quite 'pit-like' with concrete walls showing.
The wolf enclosure is nice although the wolves are a lot more exposed than they were in old wooded enclosure by the bison.
I'm a big fan of Toronto Zoo, I had been once before 10 years ago so was keen to visit on this recent trip......I love the Pavilions and their diversity but find much of the outdoor areas a little disappointing - although this is perhaps a relection that both of my visits have been in November. The African area probably looks much better in the summer. Also the Eurasia area that I also enjoyed on my first visit was closed owing to the construction of the new panda exhibit.
