This is by far the best exhibit the zoo has had for their wolves, IMO. As the pack is down to six, I wonder if they are going to let the existing pack die out and then replace instead of bringing in animals anytime soon.
I don't know exactly what the Zoo's plans are for wolves, but I actually made the trek down to the Domain on my last visit and there were 3 arctic wolves on display in the old exhibit. This was in addition to the 6 that were on exhibit in the Tundra. So the zoo has at least started to think about the future.
If the pack is as old as I think, at least 11 years old or older, then they have to think of the future. And while they have the spare space available why not try to create a second younger pack. Once they have established a pecking order they could swap exhibits with the old pack and retire them in the Canadian domain. Or they could attempt to introduce the new animals.
