Male and female Otters cuddling. Put together for breeding.
Did you talk to a keeper about them? I'd love to learn more about the new male.

Oh funny story for you. Ok so two weeks ago I stop with my dad to get coffee in this tiny town. This crazy old guy comes up to us and my jerk of a father leaves me to talk to the guy (it was freezing cold and the guy wouldnt let me go inside). He tells me about a bunch of crazy thing but the funny one to me was that he was driving along and saw a dead otter in the road. It was jet black and more than seven feet long and weighted like 60 lbs! Like I said he was crazy but his story gets crazier... I know crazier than a river otter bigger than both sea and giant otters. Well he takes it home with him to put out for the buzzards at his house. He argued that buzzards are not turkey vultures... Ok so he looks out the window in the morning and guess what he sees? Yes you have to guess because I had to freeze my butt off while he made me guess for 5 minutes even though I gave up and said I dont know. Well it was a pair of California Condors! Thats right in central ontario we have California Condors (you think the name would give him a clue... CALIFORNIA). Well they were six feet tall, had a 18 foot wingspan and must have weighted 200lbs, and had blood red heads. Biggest bird I ever heard of. You think I would know we had birds in ontario that could pic up people and just carry them away but no. Yet when I told him I had seen a bald eagle at our dump and golden eagles soaring over head he told me I was nuts. Poor crazy old man. So desperate for companionship he spends 15 minutes torturing an innocent person in the cold with his tall tales. Your photo reminded me of my encounter with the guy who told me otters were 7 feet long and California Condors bigg enough to pick up a moose soared in the skies of Ontario. Promised my dad when he gets that loony I would have him locked up where he couldnt spread his crazy.

That's definitely one crazy story.

In terms of the keeper and the otters, all she said was that they were hoping they would breed. Nothing more about the male.

Nuts I wanted to find out more. Maybe I should ask the crazy guy. He could probably tell me all about the zoos 7 foot long black otter... I bet they eat small dogs.
