I have no idea how to tell the orangutans apart, so I can't help you with this one TZFan. Since the orangutans are always rotating, I can never compare all of them together to see the differences between them. Maybe someone else will know.
I liked the system where Budi and Puppe were together and the other 4 were together. I could tell Budi from Puppe. And if he was close enough I could tell Kembali from Jingga. It was Sekali and Ramai who were hard.
Im not sure the current rotation but as I last heard it, the boys are together, Ramai is with Jingga, Sekali is alone as is Puppe. I dont get why Sekali is alone unless they are trying to pair her with Puppe full time as company now that Budi has been seperated from her.
The adult females don't get along with one another (nor would they in the wild), which is why they are separated. I believe Ramai and Sekali have lived off and on with each other over the years. If they are separated now, I would guess there were ongoing issues.
Oh that Ramai and her social issues. She was the reason that Puppe couldnt be with them. It's sad she cant get along with Sekali if thats the case. I believe she sort of took over raising Sekali when Abigail rejected her. Look out Jingga.
Hopefully Sekali can be paired with Puppe. I know orangs live alone in the wild but these orangs have lived in groups their whole lives. Both girls have always had others around. They got along fine when Budi and Kembali got play dates. I know Sekali will have more offspring but Puppe wont so life could get boring or lonely for her. It's too bad Budi was a boy and not a girl who could have stayed with Puppe indefinitely.
I think I figured out the difference between the boys thanks to the keepers twitter. They corrected someone who posted a photo of who they thought was Budi but it was Kembali. Budi appears to have the old man receding hair line thing going on, he also has a darker face. Kembali has more hair on his head and his face is lighter. The trick probably wont last long as Kembali is only months behind Budi in age but it could work for the time being.
