Yes it is Er Shun's outdoor exhibit. Best we can guess is the zoo either slapped up the chainlink last year just to get the exhibit done for the opening and is adding the glass now because they have the time. Or the viewing was so poor that the zoo realized they made a mistake. I lean towards the slap it up theory. They were in a huge rush to get the exhibit done in time its very possible a temporary short cut was taken.
It looks like they have a good viewing area now and that will be incredibly important if a cub is born this summer... well the viewing will be for next summer but better to just have it done well in advance of all the guests coming just to see a cub.
Oh I dont discount the complaints. It was terrible with the fence. I never got to see her out there myself but one look at the exhibit told me it wasnt a good idea. Complaints would have gone through the roof if they hadnt changed it before a cub arrived.
I seem to think in the original plans there was a glass viewing. I could be wrong since we have looked a so many plans in the last 2 years or I have confused it something else.
