Best I could do under the circumstances, but still a great thrill to see them these lovely birds thanks to some very nice people who allowed me to spend time in their fantastic garden

Very nice species. :) I would have liked to go to Exmouth last time I was in Perth but I didn't get the chance. I may try to go next time I am in WA.

It was a long drive even with three drivers but certainly worth it for the spectacular scenery. Saw Bustards on the peninsula as well which was quite nice.

Very nice Goura - although I am more jealous of the Bustards!

I have seen Western Bowerbirds in and around Alice Springs, did you see this one's bower?

I actually saw three bowers - all in a very kind person's garden. Each was decorated with a different colour. The species in Alice Springs is (I think) the Spotted Bowerbird and the Western bowerbird was once considered the same species until fairly recently. The owner of the garden has travelled in the north quite extensively and has seen the Great Bowerbird which he says is quite easy to observe near Broome and Kununurra.

Cool! It would be great to have bowerbirds in the garden. I saw a couple of bowers around Alice Springs too, here is a photo: http://www.zoochat.com/674/western-bowerbird-bower-alice-springs-nt-342401/

The only bowerbirds in Alice Springs are westerns, spotteds only just reach the NT border according to my field guide.
