Boelen's Python

This snake which I think is a species of python has replaced the black breasted leaf turtles in the Malayan Woods Pavilion. It was hiding in the back of its enclosure so I could not get a great photo of it.

Asked a keeper who said Bowen's Python (to my ear). Researching it, it seems Boelen's Python, New Guinea, is the correct species.

My picture looks like a dup. of yours, arcticwolf.

Thank you Mr Wrinkly! If it's from New Guinea, I wonder why they didn't put it in Australasia. I think it would fit well in the second emerald tree boa exhibit.

Maybe because the Turtle was moved out in December and something for that exhibit was overdue.

I think it's pretty neat putting a snake in there, but the lighting is terrible and the glass needs a good scrubbing, both inside and out.

Good job on finding out the species of snake.

You're probably right Mr Wrinkly. Hopefully in the future this species can move to Australasia and another Indomalayan animal can go in its exhibit.
