Here's the newly hatched Burmese Star Tortoise. It's pretty hard getting a good shot of it, as it's behind the glass plus in a glass box, so 2 layers of glass. And the lighting isn't the greatest. Oh, and the have a red light over it messing with the natural colours.

Great to see they are breeding this endangered species with succes at Toronto Zoo ! Was there only this young or did they have more bred ?
 
This was the only fertile egg laid by the mother out of 9 eggs. Plus there were some close calls with this little one.

The four adults were donated by a private collector and were originally imported from Europe (these details were in a newspaper article). The private collector gave the Zoo several different species of tortoises/turtles.
 
Didn't know about that Press Release on the Zoo website. It's the same printout they have on the exhibit. Thanks for posting it adams7.
