The staff is providing him the materials necessary. I'm sure they're looking at this as an act of enrichment. Hopefully they'll get him a mate seeing how much effort he put into the nest.
Im sure it is enriching for him to build the nest, plus it makes a wonderful display piece. I wouldnt count on either male receiving a mate. They are surplus males whose bloodlines are already well represented. That could change down the line but for awhile at least they arent needed.
