Grevys Zebra

Youngsters Luke and Leia have been separated out because they being transferred to Parc Safari.

Did you happen to find out when the baby is due?

So they decided to transfer Luke and Leia. Do you know if there are still plans to bring in another female, or has that changed for the time being.

I don't know about Tori's date, just that they say she is healthy.

A female is still expected from Calgary, but keepers don't know when.

She doesn't look too pudgy so I'm guessing it could be awhile. It would be great if it was a spring foal they can promote.

The female from Calgary was originally supposed to be Lori Anne, a 14 year old female. She was supposed to arrive in 2013 to replace Tori and Shakira who were to go to Houston. Then Shakira died, the flood happened in Calgary, one of the two female Hartmann's zebras Calgary brought in to replace the Grevy's died leaving 3 zebras, and we decided to keep Tori. Odds are Calgary wont want to give her up until they have another Hartmann's so that they don't run the risk of a single zebra should one of the two remaining zebras die. Just a weird series of events delayed her arrival. Hopefully she will arrive in 2015. Lori Anne has never bred so she could be of some value. Her father J.O. only has two offspring and she is mom, Shelly Ann's (also in Calgary), only offspring.

Wow can't wait for Tori to be a mother again, also hopefully by summer Lori Anne will arrive to Toronto zoo

So sad that Leia and Luke are leaving Toronto zoo but I am sure they will love their new home to Parc Safari
