Barred Owl

A keeper was walking around Eurasia with a Barred Owl on his arm (eastern N. America, not Eurasia, but who cares).
Charlotte was hit by a car 11 years ago and had her left wing amputated but is otherwise healthy and very tame. We were able to pet her and she reacted like a cat!

I never knew the zoo had this species so thanks for sharing. I don't mind that a keeper brought this animal to Eurasia since I doubt the zoo has many Eurasian animal ambassadors.

To me it doesn't matter where in the world the animal ambassador is from and where in the zoo people see them, its more about getting to be up close an personal with animals. I would love to see more outreach species added. I can think of at least a dozen species that could be added but that means more costs in housing separately and staff to train and escort them, plus possible insurance needed.
