oblique-swimming triplefin (Obliquichthys maryannae)

NZ is home to a large percentage of the world's triplefin species. This one is the only triplefin that swims in schools in open water (holding its body in an oblique position, hence the name) rather than being solitary and benthic - although this particular individual is taking a break from swimming!
