The male did die May 29, 2010. He had been born at Jardin Zoologique du Quebec in 2005, making him just 5 when he died. Burrowing owls don't live the longest lives though. Few make it to 10-12 years old.
The female on the other hand theoretically is still alive if the SSP published this year can be believed. She was born in 2005 as well but she was born at Assiniboine but spent a year with the male in Quebec before coming to the zoo in 2006.
