Somebody recently posted a picture of what they said was the last blue duck outside of New Zealand. It was in England I think - maybe at one of the Wetland Trust zoos?

that is at Arundel (which is indeed one of the WWT reserves). They had three blue duck previously but the two males liked each other and neither liked the female. Now only one is left (a male).
Esplanade Aviaries in Palmy has a pair, and Nga Manu does too apparently, although I never saw them there. There are 8 holders listed on ZAA census (total of 29 ducks), plus Staglands and Mt Bruce, making the 10. Willowbank doesn't have any now does it?

ah, I wouldn't have thought Esplanade Gardens would. I don't recall them from Nga Manu (it was one I considered and discounted). Willowbank hasn't had them for probably three years or so (I haven't been for a while though, so they may have got some more).

The Esplanade has quite a decent native bird collection: Brown Teal, Blue Duck, Kea, Kaka, Antipodes Island Parakeet, Red-crowned Parakeet and Silvereyes. The Blue Ducks are very difficult to see, as their aviary is ridiculously overgrown.
