Shedd Aquarium has an outstanding Amazon area, complete with overhead tanks of fish so that the visitor feels immersed, but Vancouver Aquarium still has a more than adequate Amazon zone. Vancouver's was built in the early 1980's (1983) and has only just recently (2011) been updated with a few minor touches. Shedd's Amazon area is larger and has a much more updated method of exhibitry, and for my money that Chicago institution is still North America's best aquarium. Shedd, Georgia, Monterey Bay, Baltimore, Tennessee and Vancouver = top 6?
