This bear was a diplomatic gift from Russia sent to mexico in the year of the moscow olympics. He is the star of the irapuato zoo and quite a large animal. His original companion died recently and was replaced by a younger brown bear shown on this gallery. Why the russian bears did not go to one of the big mexican zoos like Chapultepec or Africam Safari is strange, but a large enclousure was built for the bears at Irapuato and they did well here.
