The horned guan´s range in the wild is limited to the El Triunfo and Montes Azules biosphere reserves in the mexican state of Chiapas. There may be a wild population in Guatemala. The mexican zoos that have bred this species are Leon Zoo, Zoomat ( in Chiapas) and Africam Safari. There are horned guans in St. Louis Zoo in the U.S. and at Walsrode in Europe. However, these birds have not been bred sucessfully out of mexico, until now.
