Zorra the spanish word for a female fox is considered a terrible insult when directed to a woman in both latin america and spain. Interesting that canids are used so often for insults.
in English one might say that a hot girl is a fox. How would one go about this in Latin America? Zorra is an insult, and obviously zorro is masculine which would just confuse them. Is there no comparitive slang for fox = hot girl?
Chili. yes you reminded me of how foxy lady as in the Jimi hendrix song is used to refer to a sensual girl. In spanish zorra is an insult because it would mean a girl or woman is too open in her sexuality.Again the idea that a female canid in heat will mount with any male is transformed into a judgement on a women. It is part of the machismo complex that discriminate against women, because indeed zorro is not an insult to a man, it means a clever and astute person, as in zorro viejo or old fox which is a compliment.
A non insulting term for an interesting girl is actually chica sexi.
