xcaret breeds this species with great success. over 100 macaws were hatche3d last year. This year with assitance from the WCS experts 27 scarlet macaws from xcaret were released in the PALENQUE archeological and ecological reserve in Chiapas, an area were the macaws had been eliminated to the illegal pet trade.
