This male was vocalizing very high in the treetops.

Is he standing upside down?

During his display, the male howler was shaking the branches actively and he does seem to be upside down here.

Would this be (Alouatta palliata mexicana) do you know?

Yes, it should be because alouatta paliata mexicana is the taxa found on the Yucatan peninsula.

Actually aloutta pigra and aloutta palliata are both found on the yucatan peninsula and the xcaret guidebook says palliata but i have my doubts now.

I have just found that CONABIO (comision nacional para la biodiversidad) states that the Xcaret howler monkeys are the largest breding group of allouta pigra or yucatan black howler monkeys in any animal collection in mexico or perhaps worldwide. They have 20 of these primates.So much for the xcaret guidebook, i trust CONABIO more. I have to change the title again. Thanks, giant eland for making me doubt.
