Caiman chiapasius is the most northern subspecies of the spectacled caiman, found mostly in the state of Chiapas, perhaps in part of Guatemala. It is endangered, found in coastal wetlands. Zoomat is the only zoo that exhibits and breeds caiman chiapasius.
