Turdus pilaris
its unlikely to be a fieldfare given that thephoto was taken in Texas. My field-guides are all packed away at the moment so the best I can say off the top of my head is that it is a thrush, either Turdus or Catharus. I'm thinking the grey-cheeked thrush C. minimus but that's purely a guess so best wait till someone with more US bird experience comes along :)

My best guess based on various internet sources is American Robin (Turdus migratorius). Hard to identify from the angle of my photo, because it only shows the back. The front body feathers are presumably red, which would have given it away if the photo had any other angle.

I did consider robin but thought that there'd be at least a bit of red showing despite the angle, and the black on the bill didn't look right (but some googling found some pics of ones that did have some black on the bill after all)

As someone whose yard is loaded with these things I will say, yes, American Robin.
