An abundant prairie bird, often seen singing.
Excellent shot. I hate living in the transition zone. I have no clue which species I saw back in March. Equally possible that it's either an Eastern or a Western. Haven't seen one since then.

I too live in that zone, and this just happens to be a western, not an eastern (yellow malar). They're as abundant as robins on the Kansas prairie.
