nuthatches have little upturned bills and a short tail. It looks like a wren to me, so I googled American wrens and some photos of Carolina Wren look similar. I don't really know American birds though.
Yes, I did a google search of birds in my county and I got a whold PDF pamphlet and Carolina Wren and Red-breasted nuthatch were my two options so I guess I'll go with the former.

the nuthatch bill upturns at the tip, this can be seen in the photo you show. The Carolina Wren's bill downcurves very noticeably at the tip - as can be clearly seen in Savethelephant's photo.
Carolina Wrens are variable in colour (see Maguari's links, for example).
