In my experience, pronghorn are always seen when driving through the grasslands of Prescott Valley (Fain Road). Sadly, this is an experience that will likely soon be lost. The huge swath of grassland is steadily succumbing to housing developments - in fact I saw tractors bulldozing a large section just before I took this photo. As this two year old article indicates, it is only a matter of time before the herd disappears. It is amazing at how common pronghorn are at dusk while driving across the vast grasslands of South Dakota, North Dakota and several other states. Part of the fun of such a journey is seeing how many of the animals can be spotted in a single evening.
