This is not merely a small addition to Abilene Zoo but it is a $3 million attraction that will open in a few months. The central pavilion is much larger and nicer than what you'd see at most giraffe feeding platforms and the exhibit is going to be an enormously popular creation. For a small zoo Abilene has done well for itself since getting out of the elephant business and with giraffes, a rhino, lions, tigers and bears it has enough megafauna to entice locals to pay the zoo a visit. On top of that there are a couple of buildings (Reptile House and Elm Street Backyard) with a total of 70 exhibits and a Master Plan that includes Giant Anteaters and a Madagascar complex within the next 7-10 years depending on funding.
