Yes it did! I cannot give you the exact dates, I think it was in the 1970s. It was a seasonal animal for two years.

Does anyone know where they were kept? I'm assuming near the area that got taken out for Grizzly Ridge. Can someone tell me what that area was called

Tiger Valley was the first named region when it opened in 1998. Before the mid-1990s, the zoo only had animals from the Americas for over a decade. The old zoo that was where Grizzly Ridge is now was thrown into Wild Prairie when it opened in 2002.
 
Yes, the Akron Zoo did have an elephant named Ebenezer, a baby Asian from 70-72, seasonally, when it was still the Akron Children's Zoo. I guess Wild Prairie is gone now. All that is left is the burrowing owls, snowy owls, and Grasslands Cafe. The snowy owl exhibit had thick-billed parrots, wild turkeys, and then snowy owls.
