I know these are tropical bears, but are these particular two outside when it's cold out or is there a certain temperature it has to be at for that to happen?
The doors are almost always open throughout the year. This can be a problem because Keesha spends a lot of time inside, especially when Balawat is outside. It’s a Linus and Lucy situation. Keesha finds Balawat young and a bit annoying and lets him know about it. Balawat has to go inside sometimes to force Keesha on-exhibit or chase him back outside.
The zoo now only has one sloth bear. They moved Balawat to the dumpy sloth bear exhibit in Cleveland, which has a good bear collection (5 species- Andean, grizzly, sun, sloth and North American black) In early June, Sakar the sloth bear arrived and Sakar and Keesha got along well until Sakar died . Now there is only Keesha.
