Was the facility busy during your visit? I'm sure that a huge proportion of the annual visitors are tourists from the massive cruise ships that dock in the town. The aquarium receives over 150,000 annual visitors but the population of Seward is only 2,500.
It was not busy at all. However, we arrived at 10am which I thought was the opening time. Apparently they had opened at 8am because it was a cruise ship day. So they may have had an influx of visitors before we arrived, who would have left by the time we got there in order to catch their local (small boat) scenic and wildlife cruise (which we had done the day before).
