wolf exhibit

September 14, 2016.
The 2016 map of the AWCC lists a "wolf pup" exhibit but not an enclosure labeled specifically as for wolves. Is this a photo of the "wolf pup" exhibit? The facility's 2013 guidebook makes no mention of wolves but the zoo had coyotes at that time...does anyone know where the coyotes were located in the park? It seems a reasonable assumption that they occupied the current wolf habitat but I'm curious to know if that is true.

I am curious too as there were no coyotes at all in the park on my visit. This exhibit housed two young wolves and a domestic dog. The dog was a companion for the first wolf that arrived as a pup a year ago. A second pup arrived this year (but looked almost full size by the time of my visit), so the dog will eventually be rotated out. Both wolves were born at Triple D Game Farm.

The first wolf arrived in 2015. It always perplexed me that the AWCC wasn't displaying such a popular and iconic Alaskan species. The Coyotes (a pair of pups rescued from an abandoned den near Anchorage) lived in the Brown Bear Exhibit. I only saw them once during all my visits, although they were present for a few years at least.
