In the latest edition of the magazine "Zoo Grapevine" the Chairman Tim Brown (he who has visited over 600 zoos) wrote in his review that "the zoo here is a gem - I have seen no better small zoo in the whole of the USA." The extensive write-up in the magazine makes a compelling argument, but is there anyone else that can offer up their own review?
I concur with Mr. Brown.... I will be making a return visit up the completion of the zoo's South American section. Beautiful grounds, adequate exhibit space (for all animals other than the Angolan Colobus...), and a rarity of species unmatched in any other small collection (i.e.Three duiker species, lowland anoa, maned wolf, clouded leopard, and Malayan tiger). The staff embodies a small town charm that only increased the quality of my visit. I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling through the area.
