Sombrero hummingbird

May 27, 2013. (Memorial Day holiday here in the states).

Was the sombrero in the hummingbird aviary for them to use as nest material?

No, a teenage girl walked into the aviary wearing it. This one bird was attracted to the red stitching and her parents saw it and told her to stand still. I managed to steal one photo while she was standing there.

Looks like the hummer is sewing the hat using the bill as a needle.
