Arizona Docent

night zoo - Aug 30, 2014

Twilight view, looking west from the western edge of the grounds (by the dinosaur dig area).
What time does it get dark there?

Around 8pm, which is earlier than most of the United States for two reasons. The first is that we are in the far south (near the Mexican border) and the farther north you go the longer the days are in summer. The second is that Arizona does NOT observe Daylight Savings Time, so it gets dark an hour earlier than states that do observe it.

That's a great shot!
