This exhibit, easily one of the worst elephant enclosures that I've ever seen, will soon see Sumatran orangutans inhabit the renovated 1930's barn. The nearby Amur leopards were shifted into a renovated enclosure, and the Asian elephants have a new 1-acre yard that includes a 6,500 sq. ft. barn. All of these changes to the Asian Domain section of the zoo are supposedly going to be complete by this summer. The new elephant exhibit, which is adjacent to the enclosure in this photo, can accommodate up to 4 elephants.
