At high tide this pool is under a further half metre of water. At low tide, when this photo was taken, the pool is isolated and is great for swimming. It's a little over two mwtres deep and around six metres long. Fish are often trapped in here until the next high tide, and at the far end on the right is a small cave under the rocks where many of the fish live. There are usually some soldierfish and squirrelfish that I suspect live in the pool permanantly. Corals grow around the edges where the light is good, and morays have been found here on occasion too.
As the edge of the reef can be too rough for swimming, this is a great alternative and popular with those who know it is there.
